In order to provide students with more transparency in the Bachelor's degree programmes in the Netherlands, Dutch universities agreed to introduce new names for Bachelor degree programmes on September 1, 2009.
For Tilburg University this lead to a couple of changes. This included among other:
The Bachelor's degree programmes Business Studies and International Economics and Finance will change both in content and name. The new names are respectively: International Business Administration and Economics.
The Bachelor's degree programme International Business will no longer be offered to new students. Current students are of course provided with the opportunity to complete their studies.
Students who graduate before September 1, 2009 will receive a degree certificate with the old study programme name on it. Students who graduate after this date will receive a degree certificate with the new study name on it, except for International Business.
For students who started with their study in Business Studies, International Business and International Economics and Finance in the academic year 2008-2009 or before are provided with the following possibilities in order to complete their current curriculum:
Academic year 2009-2010
The 1st Bachelor's year will be offered for the last time for all students who have not yet obtained courses from this year.
The 2nd Bachelor's year will be offered for the last time for nominal students and all other students who have not yet obtained the courses from the second year.
The 3rd Bachelor's year will be offered.
Academic year 2010-2011
The 3rd Bachelor's year will be offered for the last time for nominal students and all other students who have not yet passed all the 3rd year courses.
Students can take examinations for 1st year courses for the last time.
Students can take examinations for 2nd year courses for the last time.
Academic year 2011-2012
Students can take examinations for 3rd year courses for the last time.
If a student does not pass the examination of a course in the year in which this course is offered for the last time, then with the study advisor there will be looked at substitutes like an alternative course or assignment.
